What we do
The aim of REMINISCENCE IRELAND is to ensure that every older person, particularly those socially isolated, impaired or excluded from day-to-day life experiences and the community, has an opportunity to engage in Structured Reminiscence Activity in later life. This will be achieved through:
- Training – of staff, volunteers and communities in the values, aims, methods & outcomes of Reminiscence Work
- Facilitating – Structured Reminiscence Programmes in community, social, residential & care settings
- Promoting – Reminiscence Work through Nursing Homes, Retirement Centres, Social Housing Associations, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Associations, Media & Communities
REMINISCENCE IRELAND through the medium of Reminiscence Work will specifically promote:
- Social Inclusion
- Community Development
- Mental Health
- Education
- Recreation
- Active Citizenship
- Effective care planning
